Campus Safety and Security narrowly edged Human Resources Management in the finals of the inaugural Washtenaw Community College “Champions of Change” drive that netted an astounding $2,814.33.
In the final week of the campaign, CSS raised $570.11 to HRM’s $542.46 — and Campus Safety and Security Director Jacques Desrosiers has already issued the challenge for next year’s campaign: “Beat us if you can.”
Overall, CSS raised $837.14 in the five-week change drive. HRM raised $764.24.
The campaign began with 32 teams, which paired off in a bracketed competition similar to the college basketball tournament each March. Among the other top-contributing teams: Student Services, $315.28; the Children’s Center, $197.77; and The Washtenaw Voice
The WCC United Way Team of Rachel Barsch, Mary Faulkner, Joseph Fenty, Gayle Waldrup and Nancy Wegrzyn thank all 32 teams that competed and worked so hard to help the United Way fundraiser.
